in  a month or two i might be inheriting an Illuminati membership from a buddy who is moving away.  fingers crossed.

Nice... hopefully they'll let him transfer it, but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't.

crap, you might be right... from their FAQ:

Is my membership transferable or refundable?
No, all memberships are issued to an individual and are linked solely to that individual.

Is this beer rated or even discussed? A bodega-style store near my house sells it and I've been enjoying it a lot. I'm more of a brown ale than an IPA man, but a good drink is a good drink. I get a little tired of the "good beer' stores having a billion IPAs and 4 dark/brown ales, but the "Ram's Head" element caught my attention and I tried it, to my subsequent delight!

Hey James, see how I'm actually speaking to the thread topic and not being all "oh tee hee I am so veddy witty" [bites pinky] douchy in your beer thread?

It's rated here:

http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/fordham-rams-head-ipa/197435/

72nd percentile for all beers, 43rd percentile for all IPA's.

Never heard of it. It appears it's called Rams Head because it's associated with the music venues.

Fordham is minority owned by Anheuiser-Buschm fwiw. They handle the distribution. Probably why you found it at a bodega style store.

Can't say that I've ever heard either. Glad to hear you're enjoying it!

I've definitely found that to be true. Whereas beeradvocate.com has an ipa love affair going.

Well they certainly favor stouts on that RateBeer site.

all i know is the backstage lounge at rams head comes with a 6-pack of these bad boys.  it's rams head live's official beer, or something.  they also serve a single layer cake, provide a veggie platter, and have wifi.  it's quite nice.

The entire weekend of the Vermont beer fest sold out in ten minutes this year... I'm glad I got to attend last year.

Having one of these right now. Strange beer. A bit boozy. Ultimately, good stuff. Brother sent it for birthday (2012?2013? can't recall) Too bad it was a one off. Will probably never have another.

says that is has The Dissident in it - any sourness?

james, you've been quoting RateBeer a lot recently... has BA fallen in your esteem?

A bit of sourness, but not really mouth puckering.

I like the percentiles on ratebeer. For example, Budweiser scores a 0 on ratebeer, and a 56 on beer advocate. A Stella scores a 13 on ratebeer (90 for its style). The beer advocate score in 71.

Percentiles just make more sense to me and are more telling. The Beer Advocate numbers are meaningless.

tried an above mediocre grade beer at 3 Stars last night - Queen of the Damned (a Knob Creek Rye Barrel-aged version of the 3 Stars Southern Belle). Pretty, pretty tasty.
