So drank up some of my first batch of homebrew this week
and very pleased with the results...body was a little off, but taste, smell and color were great

nice! i assume that is the "before" pic?  hydrometer looks pretty high to be post-fermentation... ;D

I just bottled the Brown Ale last night
Which I'm affectionately calling James Brown Ale ....cause it's a little funky ;)

Also just received delivery of
Beer Making Mix: Warrior Double IPA
Beer Making Mix: Chocolate Maple Porter
Beer Making Mix: Evil Twin Bikini Beer

do to some space limitations at my place...I've been doing the 1 Gallon batches
but I will say I may upgrade to 5 gallon soon, as the 4-5 hours of labor would be exactly the same...but I would get over 2 cases of beer, instead of 10 bottles

The Brewer's Art Zeke's Coffee Porter is one of the best beers I've had in a really long time. They're going to bottle it. Should be available on the 11th!

do it.  will mean that a few of your bottles will last long enough to get some age on them.  or that you have enough to share without feeling possessive ;D

get that FG down, boy!

I had Hardywood's Milkman and Cigar City's Milkmaid. Put 'em together to make "The Heifer" as well. Pretty good strong stuff.

i'm not particularly excited for hopslam.  maybe i'll change my mind if reports are that this year's batch is amaze-balls, but barring that i doubt i'll buy any.  i'm not sure if the beer has gotten worse or if my tastes have change, but the last few years i've been underwhelmed.

an IIPA that i am really excited about is flying dog's single hop HBC-431.  it's a one-time release made with a new experimental hop that tastes amazing.  get it while you can.

My opinion is that there are just too many way better DIPAs than Hopslam. Five years or so ago it was one of kind, but now everyone makes a killer IPA/DIPA.

Shit show at Russian River?

Beer weekend wth friends, culminating in Double IPA Festival.  No need to go to Russian River as Younger is poured at the festival.
