Weekend beers split with my wife:

Friday: Ommegang Rare Vos: Belgian Amber Ale that almost worked with my baked ziti i paired it with. Ommegang always delivers!

Friday/Saturday: Founders CBS: Like a perfect one night (two nights in this case) stand that you'd never consider dating on a regular basis.

Saturday: Three Floyds' Alpha King Pale Ale. Sorry, Dale this is the best pale all out there. Nearly three months old, so it had lost some of its hops, but still went very well with my wife's homemade pizza.

Sunday (lunch): Dogfish Burton Baton. It's a hybrid of an imperial ipa and an english style old ale, and at a year old actually might taste better than when consumed fresh. Went very well with cambozola (sp?) cheese and a fresh Whole Foods baguette.

Sunday dinner: 21st Ammendment Hop Crisis- 21st Ammendment is a hit or miss brewery for me, but their double ipa is a hit. Especially with the Indian food I made and served.

My wife went to Belgium without me  :'(

She brought back some stuff - all awesome but most of it I'd already had...except Mort Subite.  She explained the history behind it and how the locals were fairly divided on it.  I thought it was pretty good.  Just a hint of sweet.  Probably the lightest Belgian beer I've ever had (4.5%).

Nope.  And she's all about cheese, so go figure.

Hard to scold her when she brought back beer and a handful of Cuban cigars.  Might have to insist on accompanying her next time around.

Has anybody been to the new Mellow Mushroom in Adams Morgan and if so any reports on the pint and pitcher beer prices? Looks like their draft list is small but solid. The pizza prices listed online appear to be about 30% higher than the same pizzas in Charlottesville.

I may have had something this weekend rarer than a Founders CBS - partook of several glasses from a bottle of 1944 Sandemans vintage port - not sure what my expectations were but it was very good

a little off topic I know but seemed a bit much to start a Port Thread  ;)

After listening to Achtung Baby while I was making dinner, and watch Fast Five on dvd, I decided I needed even more cheese in my life, so opened some brie (and some Theo dark chocolate). What better way to wash it down than with one of these?

Final decision: This one beats Founders CBS (and Backwoods Bastard)
