Anybody been to Ottobar in Baltimore?  Any opinions about the place?

I am considering seeing a show there.

I went over the summer for the first time and really liked it.  It's a little weird - like a trailer was patched to the back of the space with some gum and bandaids, but the sound was good, high stage = good sight lines and the staff were nice.  Way better than Black Cat or RnR Hotel IMO

Also way smaller than RnR and Black Cat. Cheap booze, deece sightlines (as long as it's not packed to the max), nice folk. Not a bad place. Capacity is around 300.

I think we've had this discussion before - Not smaller than RnR.  Capacity is more than 300.  I'm sure if you search the threads you'll find more info.

and p.s. it is total B.S. that the RNR's official capacity is 400.  That room is too small for that many people even when they move the merch table upstairs.

yeah capacity is 400, but that includes the back bar area where it is  pretty much impossible to see a show if you get stuck back there for a sold out show

Official capacity is 330 people for the downstairs part of RnR.

The Ottobar is by far my favorite area venue.  Decent sound, cheap booze, and its nice and small.  No frills and it kind of looks run down, but I think it gives it a nice bit of character.  I am not able to catch many shows there nowadays, but when i do, I always have a blast.  Also, Ive never had an issue parking, as i usually get there early enough to park out back, and walk through the well lit lot to the door, 50 feet away.

Maybe it was recently changed, but their website says 400: http://www.rockandrollhoteldc.com/portal/rentals/
"The downstairs also known as ?The Lobby Bar? is the setting for our main stage, which functions as our venue. It features a capacity of four hundred, a thirty-foot long bar, state of the art sound system, and a professional DJ booth."
