ATP NY Questions

So I'm thinking of trying to head up to ATP over Labor Day weekend up in Monticello NY.  I'm not a big festival type person.  Rarely are there more than  few bands that I want to see and the big hordes of people start to get on my nerves.  But, even though they've only announced a few acts this may be a fest I'd really like to see.  Also the impression I've gotten is that it's far from the typical festival setup.  So I'm wondering if anyone here has been up to previous ATPs in Monticello.  Thoughts, impressions, cautionary tales or otherwise?  Please share.

I hear that the resort itself is a run down piece of shit and that you want to stay off-site. Other than that, I've also heard nothing but praise.

why don't you just head to Spain for the Primavera fest? They have an ATP stage for 3 days. That's what I did last year. Also, you do not need to get a car. The venue is couple blocks from a train station.

Because it's cheaper and more convenient to go to Upstate NY than Spain? Or maybe because he prefers the lineup of the NY festival? Or maybe because he can't get the time off work to go to Spain in May? Or maybe because you'll be there and word that you suck has gotten around this board well?
