I'm sure this one's been done before, but poast them anyways.  The judges await your submissions.

The Temptations - Papa Was A Rolling Stone
Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit (still sends shivers down my spine)
Dexy's Midnight Runners - Come On Eileen
INXS - What You Need (although they have some other strong contenders)
T.Rex

not sure it belongs on the same list as "papa was a rolling stone", but the intro to DCFC's "i will possess your heart" is pretty epic.

I know it cost them everything on the album, but the Rolling Stone violin intro to Bittersweet Symphony is great.

Where the Streets Have No Name - U2

Champagne Supernova - Oasis

Summer Nights - Van Halen (I could have listed a half dozen, but I'll go with that one)

D'yer Maker - Led Zepplin

Not that I sit around listening to this band anymore, or was even ever much of a fan of, but the opening to

'L.A. Woman' by The Doors

is one of the best openers to a song that I've ever heard. Perfect lead-in to a what turns out to be a full out Rock song. Not even a song that I'd ever consider a favorite but that opener is a thing of beautiful musical perfection.
