Beach House any good live?
« on: February 11, 2010, 09:31:42 am »
Is there anyone that has seen Beach House before that can attest to how they are live?

I love the new record, but it seems like something that has the potnetial to fall flat live, especially in the middle of what will likely be a very packed Black Cat.

Thanks.

pretty boring when i've seen them. but the new record is much better than their others so it could be less boring just due to having better songs. gonna be a sold out and overly chatty crowd, i'd guess.

serious question: has anyone ever seen a non-chatty show at the BC?  i'm sure i have, but i can't remember for the life of me.  BC crowds just can't seem to shut up.

I was also bored the couple times I saw them and this new record has failed to keep my attention the few times I tried to listen to it. Their first album is the only one I really enjoy and even that one live failed to do anything for me. But when I saw them, it was just Victoria and Alex on keys/programmed beats. I think they have more of a band now? I'll still probably go; kinda want to check out The Bachelorette. Liked that album she put out last year.

Quite a few on the backstage. On the mainstage, only a couple come to mind. Grizzly Bear in early '07 and The Tallest Man on Earth last june.

I was in the back for that show and it was less than quiet during the more upbeat songs. But yeah, people were well behaved during the quieter acoustic stuff.

I don't know if Beach House is any good live, but Shearwater is.

I'm hoping most of y'all choose the Beach House show.

I didn't realize these were the same night.  I think Shearwater wins that one for me.

tickets are still available for their baltimore show.

i've been following beach house for the last 3 years, and while they're not exactly the greatest band live, i have gone out of my way several times to see them. in part it had to do with their sound and the venues always being on the verge of being empty the few times i've seen them. part of that appeal might be gone now that they're selling out crowds but i'm loving the new album and the new inclusion of a drummer might add a little umph to their live sound like it did for their record.

i think we should only consider shows that actually sold out the floor.

If that is the case, I'm drawing a blank.
