I doubt it would be a total loss - it would probably get scooped up by someone else.  But we can only hope that it would retain the same vibe and book the same kind of shows.  DC9 was second to 9:30 on my list of places to see shows

dc9 became a really good place to see a show within the past year. booking got better, they stayed on schedule with set times regularly, the upstairs was much better after construction and the roof bar was extremely nice.

totally disagree. The booking at DC9 was better than booking for Backstage. And the fact that shows actually start on time and don't end after Metro stops running puts it leagues ahead of Velvet for me. I could NEVER go to shows at Velvet because (a) I have a day job and (b) I am not a vampire. oh and (c) I neeeeed sleeeeeeep. I've seen some amazing shows at DC9 in the past year+

Seriously, Velvet Lounge fucking sucks. Sucks that DC9 is going under. Saw Plants and Animals there. One of the best shows ever.
