Shilpa Ray was good.

Grinderman were fantastic.

Crowd (in my and Samantha's general area) was douchy.

yeah, Warren Ellis and Nick Cave were amazing.  Crowd didn't seem douchy to me - I was all the way in the back by the soundboard though (got there about 5 minutes before Grinderman took the stage)  fucking great show.

in my ultimate nerd fantasy, I wished that this Warren Ellis and the Transmetropolitan writer Warren Ellis were one and the same, heh.

man i loved this one..

for dc standards the crowd seemed ok....nick cave seemed to think it was fine...

i pretty much watched nick cave and warren ellis exclusively all night and i think they were the show...they were both amazing and nick seemed to really feed off of warren...

while i enjoy the nick cave ballads i think its great to get a full on punked up show..

i probably preferred this one to the two times i've seen nick cave (the first one at lolla in 94 hardly counts as we got there towards the end of his set in the blistering sun..1 pmish..whoever put him on that lolla tour really did him a disservice.. he didn't return to the US for many many years../ the second the last nick cave show at the club..which was a very good show too)

nice that they let people take pictures....

Pretty much agree with you all.  Was also near the back.  Aside from the guy who thought he was at a Soul Asylum/Soundgarden show circa early 90's and would not stop swinging his hair around, it was really fun.

And actually, that guy wasn't too terrible.

For me the guys with the running commentary about the No Pussy Blues that made me miss a possibly funny quip from Nick (people laughed, I didn't hear).

It got progressively louder as the night went on, was a great show, the band looked to be having a great time.

If you are referring to the quip right after "No Pussy Blues" that people laughed at, it was Nick saying that the song is actually not about not getting any pussy, it is about not having a pussy.

Nick either really botched the words to "No Pussy Blues" at the 9:30 club show, he switched around the words "dandelions" and "pines" in that verse, and completely skipped the "drank a liter of cognac" verse.
