Sweetlife Festival
« on: March 15, 2011, 09:29:42 am »

That's a pretty good line-up.  Girl Talk, Lupe Fiasco, The Strokes, Crystal Castles, plus....hippy chicks.

But is there a definite date?  Initially it was Saturday, April 30th.  The Merriweather page on the right says Sunday, May 1st and the blurb to the left says May 30th.

At this point do festivals have to pay Girl Talk not to play at them?

with all the negativity that brian has put forth over the years, it's hard to tell if he's being serious when praising something.

the fact that he is questioning the date means he is serious about his praise...

The new Storkes album sounds like a bad Hot Hot Heat album.

Just a point of clarification . . . Sweetgreen doesn't really cater to 'hippie' chicks . . .more like conscious urban professional chicks and the guys who love them (or stalk them, or serve as their gbf . . .or just appreciate quality salads and frozen yogurt and that watermelon lemonade).

Very much liking the new Strokes.  Sounds like they would sound if they had moved to LA and mixed things up a bit.  I think the prevelent callbacks to the 80's are done in a positive way, conjuring up my best memories like watching Duran Duran videos on a Betamax recording of Friday Night Videos.

Looks good to me. I'm loving the new Strokes album.

Anyone know anything about Walk the Moon or Modern Man?  I read that Modern Man is local... not sure how I haven't heard of them.  Recommendations for each?

Also looks like Theophilus London was taken off?

ha, you're right...since it's a festival, it will probably be a 50 minute set.
