you answered your own question.  you don't sell the best first, then hope that people buy the less-good afterwards.  there was obviously a lot of demand for this show, so sell out the second-best first, the better show will sell itself.

hum, maybe.  i seem to remember, hazily, that one year when the did a 5-night run they did something funny like starting off with thur & fri, the added wed, then sunday (!), and finally saturday.  not 100% sure on that.

prediction: best tickets will be over $150, and this show won't come close to selling out.

Wrong.  He's the Jewish Elvis.  And he doesn't tour that much.  This is almost a Jeff Magnum situation.

I don't know.  Justin Hawkins is not rocking the DLR hair and jumpsuits anymore.  He looks like a French Tool fan now:

I'm so confused about M83 sales. I sat on TF forever yesterday and it never said sold out so I assume tickets would be on sale today. I tried the fan/website sale, sold out -- did this show really sell out in the band pre-sale? Dang, just wanted on ticket since I had to miss the BC show.
And how does StubHub have 140 of the tickets for sale?

the band's presale sold out in less than 2 hours, for the DC show, and it wasn't widely advertized.  based on this, i expected the club's onsale to go quickly... and it did.

i don't think that TF's system automatically updates to "sold out" when all tickets are gone, i believe it's a manual process (someone has to update the page to show sold out).  so even if the "Select number of tickets" pull-down is still on the page, it doesn't mean there still are tickets.  i've gotten the "all tickets are currently in other people's shopping cart" message for hours, even though the show was likely already sold out.

stubhub has 140 tickets for sale because scalpers have put 140 tickets for sale there.

anyone else pleasantly surprised to see the magnetic fields at the club rather than a sit-down theater?

I seem to remember someone said this a couple of days ago....

"bands these days, when they break, it happens on  a bigger scale than ever before"
