I have mixed feelings about the thing (and after a lot of effort I did get tickets). I spent more than an hour hitting refresh. The whole thing rewarded perseverance and dedication. Is that the right way to decide who gets to go to a coveted show? I don't know, in some ways it is more egalitarian than who can click on ticketmaster fastest. That said, the process clearly did not work as intended and a lot of time and frustration occurred and I do feel for people who got tickets in their cart originally and then got timed out or whatever. I've been in that position and it is horrible, way worse than just not getting through.
I would rather have the name thing though and get stuck with a ticket from a friend that bailed (which I'm worried about as well) than to have all of the tickets hit the secondary market. if that is what is going to happen then bands might as well do what the stones do and just charge a ton of money themselves.
