New Posies album
« on: June 08, 2005, 04:45:00 pm »
So, a new album, after 8 years, due on June 29.  Anyone have preliminary thoughts, expectations, fears?

They're playing a single, "Conversations," on WOXY.  Love it.  It's very Posies (which is obviously great, but may also mean the album doesn't break much new ground)...

As much as I love Ken Stringfellow, I found some of his solo stuff to be too soft.  Although his work with the Orange Humble Band kicked ass!!!!

Don't get me started on Jon Auer.  I think he's a prick.  Not a comment on his musicianship, but I have a hard time getting past his prickdom.

"Failure" is one of my top ten (or 20) albums...

This the best news I've had all week. I'm so very much hoping this means a full blown tour this year. Always a great show.

did anyone ever check out a band called the drowners (from sweden). anyway they are huge fans of the posies and did some songs with ken stringfellow.

from the drowners site (off their 2000 album) this is what they wrote.

One Star features backing vocals from Ken Stringfellow of the Posies who's also heard on Bellingham, a tribute to the Posies written in the great tradition of bands saluting their heroes (the Replacements' "Alex Chilton" to name but one).

well, i guess "soft" is in the title of this one .. but as not a huge posies/stringfellow fan i think it's pretty solid ...

And I haven't gotten this, as I found other solo stuff soft...I'll check it out.
