I would go - me and my wife went there in 95 on one of our first dates...using $50 RT tix on Southwest.  I think it had just opened.

 We enjoyed it....

i just bought a ticket on southwest for $104 round trip and am going in february. a nice quick off season  visit. and then, depending on how big the bonus is, i might entertain the idea of flying to dublin for a long weekend since aerlingus is having a super cheap deal--$277 roundtrip to dublin from bwi.

I had a great lost weekend in Cleveland a couple of years ago.  Make sure you go here www.beachlandballroom.com.  The Tavern side is one of the best dives I have ever been to.  I saw Sonic Boom playing Spacemen 3 songs with Will Carruthers.  The Volta Sound and The Warlocks opened up.  The next day I got up early and went to the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame and saw the special John Lennon exhibit, ate nothing but a special cookie all day and had a ticket to see The Strokes at the Agora, unfortunately my Cleveland friend and I didn't make it but had a good time anyways.  See American Splendor before you go.

I'm wondering about that 'special cookie' and if that's why he had such a good time.

It's definitely worth the time if you like memorabilia. You may want to check to see when they are having bands play.I went to see the BJM there and tix were only 5 bucks.Tickets just for the museum were more than that and the tic for the show got you in to all the exhibits as well. The Lennon exhibit was featured at the time.Plan on at least 2 or 3 hours to see everything. The Grog Shop is a great venue for mid tier acts if you want to do something that night. The owner Kathy is a real sweetheart and they recently located into better quarters.

That's classic.  Wenner is a nut job, but Rolling Stone did break some ground BACK IN THE DAY.
