Drive Well, Sleep Carefully - On the road with Death Cab
« on: June 09, 2005, 03:14:00 pm »
So DCFC has an "on the road" DVD coming out?

I can't imagine anything more boring that being backstage with Ben Gibbard.  Except watching backstage footage of Ben Gibbard.

Chapter 3 -- Girls that throw themselves at Gibbard but Gibbard shies away.

 Chapter 12 -- Gibbard crying.

Chapter 15 -- Gibbard sniffing Butte, Montana Boys and Girls Club t-shirt to see if it's clean.

To be fair, it appears to have like 12 songs preformed on it. I think - without having anything to back this up - that it's probably going to be like 80% preformance with little "on tour" segments in between the songs.

But I could be totally wrong.

On Friday, June 10, a documentary titled Drive Well, Sleep Carefully will premiere at the Seattle International Film Festival. Director Justin Mitchell, the man who also helmed the Ted Leo doc Dirty Old Town, followed DCFC during the final days of their 2004 U.S. tour, capturing the band at its candid best through live performances and interviews. The 86-minute film will be screening in select cities this summer and will be released on DVD July 26 via Plexifilm (who also produced the film under it's Plexi Productions banner). And now, the live performances:

"The Sound of Settling" - Portland, OR - The Crystal Ballroom
"The New Year" - Seattle, WA - The Showbox
"We Laugh Indoors" - Tempe, AZ - The Marquee Theatre
"Styrofoam Plates" - Dallas, TX - Trees
"Title and Registration" - New Orleans, LA - Howlin' Wolf
"Company Calls" - Birmingham, AL - WorkPlay Theater
"Tiny Vessels" - Austin, TX - Stubb's BBQ
"Transatlanticism" - Dallas, TX - Trees
"Expo '86" - Portland, OR - The Crystal Ballroom
"We Looked Like Giants" - San Francisco, CA - The Fillmore
"Why You'd Want to Live Here" - Los Angeles, CA - The Wiltern
"Prove My Hypotheses" - Seattle, WA - The Showbox
"Bend To Squares" - Seattle, WA - The Showbox

that was pretty funnny ... i like the press release:

"Emo is great, but it's even better when you're making fun of it! " SLG's editor-in-chief Jennifer de Guzman (who actually really likes the new Bright Eyes album) said. "There's no way you can always be so earnest about misery, so why not turn someone's pain into fodder for ridicule? Steve has really hit on a goldmine for mockery material here. Mock mock mock. Mean mean mean. What's not to love?"

I always wondered if they would play that in LA, and how the crowd reacts
