I am amazed that Jimmie's Chicken Shack is still together.  I saw them open up for the Violent Femmes at Johns Hopkins 16 years ago!

I wouldn't really say they're still together, since it's just the singer as the only original member left.  I'm not even sure he's even working on new material.  I remember the first time seeing them was out in the parking lot of RFK when I went to see Pink Floyd for the Division Bell Tour...

I'm just really shocked they've got a higher billing than CLUTCH!!  Let's look at this and wonder which of these two local bands has had greater success, and still putting out music.  No need to even mention that Clutch has all original members :)

What about the Gin Blossums?  They A.) Have more recognizable songs (at least three or four) to the general public than all of the other bands combined and B.) have sold more records than all of the other bands combined.  Putting the most popular mainstream band so far down on the bill....that IS "alternative."

yeah . . . but springsteen and pink floyd have sold more than all of them.  would you put them ahead of the dr. dog?  i mean come on, dr.dog is changing the landscape of all things music.

Dr. Dog is actually the best band on that bill.

I don't see any Latin rock on that line-up. I, for one, am deeply offended. How did they get a permit!??

I'd put them in the parking lot.  Someone needs to sweep up and take care of Porta-Potties.

Is there a thumbs up like option on the 930 forum?

Actually...I was thinking the same thing, then just assumed HFS had reverted back to it's original format.

Great take. Love the Gin Blossoms, although seeing them at MPP won't be the same as seeing them in a small venue.

Without Doug Hopkins the Gin Blossoms were/are awful.
