Didn't think much of the first album... Being able to capture a sound without writing good songs is a big snooze fest in my book, haven't bothered listening to the new one.  So many better contemporary artists doing retro soul the right way.   Then again I don't understand the infatuation with tUnE-YaRds

caught a glimpse of his live act in May and thought it was pedestrian stuff. Not edgy at all.

i'm talking about lyrically....it was just cheesy stuff. u can be in that genre and be edgy.

I'm ok with lyrical fluff if it's ear candy. I'll give it a listen! The first album gave me no reason to have any high expectations from the second, so that's why I've yet to give it a listen. Bet it's not as good as Raphael Saadiq's latest.
