and yes, it sucks.

i believe that it is technically possible, but there are some complicated & expensive hoops to jump through.  the argument at this point is that allowing beer in grocery stores would kill off all the small mom-and-pop beer stores that dot the MoCo landscape.

The Germantown Shoppers sells it but it is an exception.

Go up 355 towards Bethesda and there are plenty on either side.  Mont County Liquor store across from Wintergreen plaza.  12015-B Rockville Pike

A. Maryland State law prohibits this. Four Montgomery County grocery stores sell beer and wine today because they were licensed before the law changed.

There is one 7-11 in Howard County that sells beer.  It is weird to see around here.

there's another place a block up, where Washington hits 355.  but if you were looking for tonight, well, you're out of luck since it's after 10.  you'll need to hit up a bar/restaurant.

There's two 7-11s that sell beer in MoCo. The one on 355 right before old town Gaithersburg did many moons ago as well as one in Takoma Park.

Also 7-11 across from the Home Depot in Aspen Hill
Giant in White Oak has a nice beer and Wine selection.
The Korean Korner at Viers Mill and Randolf is not bad (plus you can use the beer to was down some Kimchee and dried shrimp. . . yum)
. . . I miss living back home (Hawaii) going to any Safeway and getting markdowns with my Safeway card. . . Nothing more satisfying than being encouraged to drink by your grocery stores discount card. . . Plus being able to buy the hard stuff in the same place as you buy your general munchies and chocolate cake.

Ha!! You reminded me of my trip to Hawaii a long time ago. Our wives worked together and it was a convention so the other husband and myself rented a car and just drove around the island. He kept pointing out '7-11' everytime we passed one, which I thought was weird. (I didn't really know him) After many "7-11's" I asked him what the attraction to them were and he just said....'BEER!!' He lived in VA and me in MD so I didn't even connect convenience stores with alcohol.

Needless to say I pulled into the very next 7-11!!
