michel richard . . . is laughing.

He should be laughing at himself for being involved in that awful Meatballs place.

Agreed. Place is awful.

I gave it two chances. Even Subway can manage to reheat their meatballs so they aren't cold on the inside.

I had a 2-day meeting in Penn Quarter this week.  (ugh)  Most people went to Potbelly both days.  I hit Meatballs, then Hill Country.  I estimate my lunches were 60000x better.

A meatball sub from Potbelly is actually better than a meatball sub from Meatballs.

I won't argue on taste, but it kinda skeeves me out when chain restaurants trade craft for consistency.  I'm not sure I want to be able to get a Potbelly Turky-n-Chez (tm) that tastes exactly the same in the Cincinnati airport as it does in the St. Louis airport.
Then it might skeeve you out to learn Meatballs doesn't have a real kitchen. The meatballs are made from a company in MD and the sauces from a company in Alexandria. They only attempt to reheat the stuff at the restaurant.

I like HIll Country but you're definitely paying the rent on that giant space. The Capital Q a few blocks up is a better value (esp. at lunch) and it's not a chain.

had a meeting downtown in the same block, and thought I'd see for myself about the much maligned Meatballs

but then I saw Luke's Lobster was next to it and that ended that mission

man that was excellent

been getting into the Lobster Roll thing...so far, Red Hook & Luke's are my favorites

opinions, please...

had the Luke's Lobster roll tonight, and i have had the red hook truck's a few times.  I think i like the truck's better, but solely due to the additional butter i think they use.  Will have to try the others mentioned above as well.

Hank's Oyster Bar has a decent lobster roll.
Not as good as Luke's but more filling since it comes with old bay fries.

Lobster Burger at Central is f'n delicious as well.

Starting to get a bit off topic from a food truck, though.

luke's has a slight advantage over red hook for me-mainly because its on my way home from work and there is never a line there.  both are very very good.

do not get luke's chowders though-they are pasty with flour. flour in a chowder is a big no no.

i'm from coastal massachusetts and i worked at a seafood restaurant up there for a few years so i've got lobster cred.  ;D

All I want is the god damn grilled cheese truck to come to metro center or gallery place.  That's the only truck I want to eat from and it's the only truck that never comes to the part of town that I happen to be in.
