So I'm guessing that the genre Doom Folk is veering very close to hutch's nemesis Hobo Music?

I feel like the name Virgil shows up in songs way more than IRL. I mean have you ever even met a Virgil before. And yet we sing about him all the time.

Virgil Tibbs: A fictional character from the novel and film In the Heat of the Night, portrayed by Sidney Poitier

*MAJOR NERDISM ALERT*

I've been enjoying, in small doses, vids from The Daily Doug.  what makes watching his reactions to classic rock and metal fascinating, IMO, is that Doug has perfect pitch and is a classical composer.  i either learn something, and/or have my mind blown by how much he can pick out as he listens to something for the first time.  it's both impressive and humbling to watch him dissect music on the fly.  it probably helps if you're familiar with terms like "dominant", "flat seventh", "mixolydian", etc. but then again i think anyone would be impressed by his ability to play back a song on the keyboard after a single listen.  he can get a little wishy-washy when "analyzing" lyrics (especially if he breaks out the bong beforehand), but as long as he sticks to music theory i enjoy.  in case you want a place to start: Classical Composer reaction/analysis of LED ZEPPELIN: SINCE I'VE BEEN LOVING YOU | Episode 917 (or just search his page for your fav song/artist)

this post is potentially of interest only to Justin Tonation

Oh does he do Phish?

he's done 3 vids on phish!  his take on Divided Sky is good, classic Doug.  his reaction to You Enjoy Myself is less analytical, but on 2 or 3 occasions he breaks out the keyboard and jams with the band.  i can't recommend Ruby, tho, that song is so complex and non-repeating that he doesn't have time to catch up before saying "wow" yet again... i couldn't get through it.

since i couldn't find a "help me ID this track" thread, and i didn't feel like starting one, i'll ask this here:

can anyone identify the riff at 23:39 of this vid? (main part actually starts at 23:54)

background: this guy reviews guitars, mostly Gibsons, and after going over the history and specs of an instrument, including tearing it open, he demos it by playing a few riffs.  the riff at 23:39 is one he plays semi-regularly and i recognize it but i can't name it.  it's been bugging me for a while, so thought i'd ask the hivemind... danke.
