*MAJOR NERDISM ALERT*
I've been enjoying, in small doses, vids from
The Daily Doug. what makes watching his reactions to classic rock and metal fascinating, IMO, is that Doug has perfect pitch and is a classical composer. i either learn something, and/or have my mind blown by how much he can pick out as he listens to something for the first time. it's both impressive and humbling to watch him dissect music on the fly. it probably helps if you're familiar with terms like "dominant", "flat seventh", "mixolydian", etc. but then again i think anyone would be impressed by his ability to play back a song on the keyboard after a single listen. he can get a little wishy-washy when "analyzing" lyrics (especially if he breaks out the bong beforehand), but as long as he sticks to music theory i enjoy. in case you want a place to start:
