cool little story about the CBGB's awning

this was funny: Louise Staley, who was head booker and basically ran the club from 1986 until the last day, told me it's long been believed that the band Jody Foster's Army (JFA) stole the original awning after their gig in the 1980s?"rumor has it they hung it in their backyard." This was backed up by others at the club, though JFA never responded to my request for comments and confirmation (no one's going to arrest you guys!).
lol, I remember seeing JFA in 1987. they do the best cover of the Charlie Brown theme song

I thought Killsaly was granted a 100 year concession with exclusivity on upcoming hobo rock concert announcements for the greater DC area? This is in addition to his concession for the Baltimore area. (also with a no competition clause)..

David W. Niven was a high school teacher from New Jersey. But his legacy will be the 650 cassette tapes of early jazz that he recorded throughout his lifetime. The set spans more than 1000 hours and gives a fantastic insight into the development of jazz through the years 1921-1991. Niven also wrote setlists and notes that come along with the collection on Archive.org

The main reason for doing this rather major project was to put my collection into some kind of compendium form that would attract my children to the music that had been of such significance in my life. My collection amounted to over 10,000 hours of tapes. No two people will agree with my selection of Legends. I decided to choose from the years prior to the BeBop period, i.e., before Gillespie, Bird, Monk, Miles.

I think you can see Sarah Koenig pop into the frame for a few seconds on the right shortly after the 3 minute mark. It makes sense since she's a NPR employee.

Herbert puts out a recording on a torilla

Weird gimmick aside, this guy is awesome. I don't understand how he isn't more highly regarded. He had, like, a moment of relevance around the time Scale comes out but he's pretty consistently great.

What happened to movie soundtracks?  They used to rule in the 90s and even a tiny bit into the 2000s, but now???

I am talking about soundtracks like Clerks, Trainspotting, the Crow, Spawn, Demon Knight, High Fidelity, Velvet Goldmine, Garden State, Singles, Reality Bites, Blade 1 and 2, Judgement Night, CB4, Pulp Fiction, Natural Born Killers, Lost Highway, Love and a 45, Empire Records, Rushmore, Royal Tenenbaums...
