Believe it or not, the Who's drummer thing was done as a school talent show skit on "Eight Is Enough". The little kid didn't want to do "Who's on first" with the dad, so....

I don't know if it is more surprising that that happened, or more surprising that you know that.

TV show references to actual bands were very rare back then, so it stood out. They may not have even referenced Moon but I remember Yes and The Guess Who for sure.

Without the first note, you can't tell if it's B minor or D major.

Dmaj is the relative major of Bmin, same-same, so that's not it... (also, a piece in Bmin could start with a D, or any note for that matter, so knowing the first note wouldn't clarify this anyways)

(I know it's like those are sharps or something...)

correct!  Bmin/Dmaj has two sharps, F# and C# - but in the image above, the second sharp is on B not C.

OAR is funny, but actually was Beach House...pretty good write up for MD too

Contemporary Baltimore is a hotbed of musical innovation that's bursting with politically urgent hip-hop, punk, and dance music, and a case could be made for Wye Oak, Lower Dens, or Future Islands and some of the other long-running indie bands that have broken into the mainstream -- early R&B innovators and doo-wop pioneers The Orioles, named after the state bird, also deserve a listen. It's Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally's dream-pop project, however, that earn a nod for their prolific output and ability to develop their distinctive sound without betraying their style.

Releasing Depression Cherry and Thank Your Lucky Stars within two months of each other in 2015 was an excellent, respectable troll move that sandwiched a bizarre "fake song hoax," all of which sent the music press into a typing frenzy. Fun!
