I've always been intimidated by Jonathan Richman's solo catalogue beyond the Modern Lovers LP - where do I start?  compilation?

Any advice appreciated.

I only have bout five of his records ... i don't tend to like compilations

anyways this ist he record I really like by him and I'm really hoping to get him to sign it when he plays the 930 although I don't know if he signs.. I thought he was great two years ago at the 930!

I'm not a big fan of Jonathan Sings

I also like this one:

but these records sound nothing like the classic Modern Loves one

this one is also  good:

I caught him the last time he was in town with no knowledge of his solo material and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

spotify has this compilation of his 70s work, which is pretty good, then jumps forward to his 2000s albums.

I'll second this one.  I have a different Beserkley comp, but I think it's all included here, plus another 20+ songs.
