What, no Oscar thread?

Argo will probably win Best Picture simply because it claims that Hollywood saves lives. Amour was far and away the best film in the bunch. Zero Dark Thirty was entertaining to watch, but I forgot it completely as soon as I left the theatre. I didn't see Lincoln because I think Spielberg is the anti-christ.

Lincoln was horrible.  DD Lewis was good.  But I knew from the opening scene that it was some of the most hamfisted schlock i've ever seen.  Zero Dark Thirty was pretty good, but yeah, nothing too special.  I didn't see Amour.  Argo was a damn solid movie from top to bottom.  I really liked it.  Ben Affleck raised his game big time with that one.

All right I didn't see Amour but there's no way some french movie about old people turning into dust was better than motherfuckin Django Unchained.

I didn't care much for Argo but it sounds like it has the momentum. I have to admit, I couldn't get past the fudging of facts to the extent it did. I don't mind dramatization but when I was watching it, the part where they take a day trip to the marketplace seemed so illogical and to find out it never happened just shot its credibility down, not to mention the whole runway drama that never happened

Silver Lining was fine but nothing remarkable

I really did like Lincoln, gotta say. I love the Team of Rivals book and I was able to get right into this. And its a cliche now, but DDL was great in this. He'll get the win and he deserves it

I love depictions of process and protocol so Zero Dark 30 was like porn to me. It was my movie of the year, though I also loved Django, Hobbit, Raid and to a slightly lesser extent Cabin in the Woods

2012 was a bad year for good Oscar movies apparently.  Zero dark thirty doesn't belong on the list, nor does silver linings play book (it was an ok movie) - Lincoln was a snooze Fest.

Until last night, I had always thought Ang Lee was gay. Learn something new everyday.

Pretty much the evening's winners were Shirley Bassey/Goldfinger, Kate Winslet's Boob and the two "Who Are You Wearing" jokes that appeared in my twitter timeline.   There was another James Bond theme performed but it was pretty forgettable.

18 out of 24 this year and think I'm still going to lose the pool this year.  That's not going to make me happy.

I liked the AmEx commercial that showed BEN'S CHILI BOWL, which is a cash only establishment.

Any thoughts on MacFarlane's hosting performance?

I thought he was funny.  And not as offensive as he could have been.  Were there tasteless jokes?  Sure.  But, that's what he's about and they shouldn't have asked him to host.

I do think the Oscars should be classier than him, but that's just because I'm old fashioned and want the Oscars to be glamorous...
