I've heard some of the original God Help The Girl album, which Stuart used as the basis for the movie that's coming out.  As a Kickstarter backer, I will eventually get it on DVD.

Laura Vane & The Vipertones - BodyQuake

Think Spice Girls with the fluff turned down a bit or Adele with the Attitude turned up.  I'm smitten..

Really love this. It came out last year but was just remixed/reissued and sounds noticeably better. Think Juliana Hatfield meets Superchunk.

Foo Fighters Have Finished Their Eighth Album
The untitled LP will hit shelves in November, a month after the premiere of the Foo-centric HBO series 'Sonic Highways.'

No offense to the Foo Fighters, but I do not understand HBO's current obsession with music based programming. They stink at it.

Which ones in particular are you referring to?

The Jay-Z Picasso Baby thing from last year (I guess they're doing a Beyonce/JayZ tour something or other next month too), the Bruce Springsteen doc (Hard Road??), Six By Sondheim, and the Billy Joel goes to Russia retrospective.

Garbage in, garbage out. Jay Z? I don't expect greatness from a doc on anything he does. The Made in America movie Ron Howard did pretty much sucked too. If you saw Sound City and Back and Forth, you'll know Grohl makes some pretty compelling film docs. I suspect his HBO series will be great too. Didn't see the Springsteen thing. I thought the Billy Joel thing was OK, but Christie Brinkley's interview was awful.

his interview is fantastic, as is the music: http://www.npr.org/2014/07/20/332073982/unlocking-the-eclectic-a-conversation-with-shabazz-palaces-ishmael-butler

This needs a bump. He's one of the few that keeps hip hop relevant. Heavy rotation for this one.
