Show history of MPP or 930
« on: October 07, 2013, 11:48:13 am »
Perhaps this has been covered before or is just impossible, but anyone know of a database listing historical shows at music venues, particularly IMP (since we're here) venues, such as 930/MPP?

It would be interesting to peruse if there were.

I have always wondered how many times Pulp played at the club.

I saw them once at the current location in the early 90's but I don't know if it was 930 club or still WUST music hall at that point.

Pulp performed on June 4, 1996 at the club. They were touring on the "Different Class" LP, and I'm 90% sure it was sold out. I remember the venue was jam packed. I had a photo pass and got some great photos of Jarvis and the rest of the band. From what I recall the setlist was pretty much the entire Different Class LP and some tunes from His'n'Hers.

They also toured in 1994 opening for Blur on the Parklife tour. I don't recall there being a DC show, but I saw them in Chicago at the Vic Theater.

They also performed at the Club the night before they played at the Tibetan Freedom concert in 1998 with Radiohead.

There are roughly 3,300 shows in Songkick's archive for the 9:30 club:
https://www.songkick.com/venues/922-930-club/gigography
(note: Songkick doesn't always parse through early/late shows as separate shows, so sometimes it looks like one big show, but it's a good enough starting point).

SongKick lists ~750 shows at MPP

Damn.  What a dream tour.  Sadly, I was only 4 at the time.

It was an extraordinary show. Pulp was incredible. Jarvis ate fruit throughout the performance. They played stuff from "His'n'Hers" and nearly blew Blur off the stage, but Blur were great too. I think that was my favorite Pulp show...I saw them 3 times. Candida's organ sounded amazing.
