930 Club Forum 2013 Boardie of the Year
« on: December 19, 2013, 11:49:17 am »
The Boardies.. the award  par excellence... all posters aspire to hold this giant cat statue aloft at least once in their lives....(Note: cat statue design entrusted to Walkie)....

"The Boardie of the Year is that member that best embodies the values of the 930 Club Forum community."

someone will need to receive the emails and tabulate the vote... I leave it open to the community to discuss and determine how this process should be conducted and what if any prize should accompany this award...... I would think that if there aren't at least a certain number of votes (25? 35? what?)  the award should be left vacant for 2013...

I dont't think there are 25 active boardies to actually vote.

Would it be gauche to accept the award in advance of being nominated?

ok this is gonna bug me so i'm amending this:

"The Boardie of the Year is that member that best embodies the values of the 930 Club Forum community."

to read

"The Boardie of the Year is the member that best embodies the values of the 930 Club Forum community."

I sort of feel like there shouldn't be a qualification. Think about the people who, in your mind, would get nominated for this. Virtually none of those people "embody the values" of the community. They're going to be exemplary people who stand out for not being average. See also: my thread a few months back on the moral center of the board.

well my feeling was everybody could interpret the "values of the community" differently.....because I agree with you...if that makes any sense I know not.. but it was sort of meant as a facetious (ironic?) nod at the usual crap that gets thrown around about awards..

Years ago, I used to go through and nominate some posts and threads of the year.

For example:

Posts of the Year - 2006

But we didn't have a search function back then, so it was just doing a service.  With search it's a little different now....

Posts of the Year - 2006

too bad all those ultimatebb links are now broken.  the content is still here somewhere on the board, but there is no way to get there unless you search for it.

aside: looks like dupek was wiped from the database.  his old posts have him listed as blank - no username.  what is this, north korea where the downfallen are retroactively wiped from the history books?
