One possible solution would be to make JA a stand-alone forum with individual threads for each show annoucement. That way folks could comment on shows in a logical place and those not interested could easily ignore the posts and just look at new threads for new shows.

you have got to be kidding me... the just announced thread is the #1 thread on this board BY FAR... the fact that occasionally someone, including me, posts something off topic or it goes off the rails doesn't mean its not generally quite helpful....
