Well, my shoes, they come from Singapore
My flashlight?s from Taiwan
My tablecloth?s from Malaysia
My belt buckle?s from the Amazon
You know, this shirt I wear comes from the Philippines
And the car I drive is a Chevrolet
It was put together down in Argentina
By a guy makin? thirty cents a day

Well, it?s sundown on the union
And what?s made in the U.S.A.
Sure was a good idea
?Til greed got in the way

Well, this silk dress is from Hong Kong
And the pearls are from Japan
Well, the dog collar?s from India
And the flower pot?s from Pakistan
All the furniture, it says ?Made in Brazil?
Where a woman, she slaved for sure
Bringin? home thirty cents a day to a family of twelve
You know, that?s a lot of money to her

Well, it?s sundown on the union
And what?s made in the U.S.A.
Sure was a good idea
?Til greed got in the way

Well, you know, lots of people complainin? that there is no work
I say, ?Why you say that for
When nothin? you got is U.S.?made??
They don?t make nothin? here no more
You know, capitalism is above the law
It say, ?It don?t count ?less it sells?
When it costs too much to build it at home
You just build it cheaper someplace else

Well, it?s sundown on the union
And what?s made in the U.S.A.
Sure was a good idea
?Til greed got in the way

Well, the job that you used to have
They gave it to somebody down in El Salvador
The unions are big business, friend
And they?re goin? out like a dinosaur
They used to grow food in Kansas
Now they want to grow it on the moon and eat it raw
I can see the day coming when even your home garden
Is gonna be against the law

Well, it?s sundown on the union
And what?s made in the U.S.A.
Sure was a good idea
?Til greed got in the way

Democracy don?t rule the world
You?d better get that in your head
This world is ruled by violence
But I guess that?s better left unsaid
From Broadway to the Milky Way
That?s a lot of territory indeed
And a man?s gonna do what he has to do
When he?s got a hungry mouth to feed

Well, it?s sundown on the union
And what?s made in the U.S.A.
Sure was a good idea
?Til greed got in the way

I will say the thriving American craft brewers may have issue with telling people to buy your beer from Germany.
I see the connection to that song and ad. But not a single line is the same.  So did he write the new copy? We Will Build Your Car!

-edit-
Finally got the track...and it's dramatically different (other than message)
but he did sound a lot like Leonard Cohen.

Actually that commercial sucked.  Audi was by far the best.

Well American Craft breweries should make better beer.  But I will buy my cars from Germany too.

of course he didn't write the "copy"! he's not an ad man dude!

all I was trying to point out was that the idea behind the commercial is somewhat similar to something he wrote in a song 30 years ago...

I think you missed the point if you think the ad is telling people to buy German beer.

the funny thing is that Chrysler is owned by Fiat

I thought Keidis looked good.  Fit for being....50+?  Are you talking about Chad Smith?  He never was Mr. Muscle boy.  If my shirtless bod looks somewhere between Anthony Keidis and David Beckham then I'm winning at life.

My opinions usually run coutner to this board but....

I loved the two Tim Tebow ones (naturally).  He's not only a better commercial actor than Peyton Manning but he couldn't have done much worse actually quaterbacking the Broncos too, could he?

And I actually like the Bud Light one.  The full version is much better:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKKVQLDYYcw

Maybe I liked it because it seemed like a better version of the movie "The Game."

I got no problem drinking Bud Light.  I'm not a beer snob/hipster.   My goal for 2014 is to be more like Ian Rappaport (although I think he WAS an actor.)  Bonus:  For sex, dating, virginity-losing, "If I give this to you, are you up for whatever happens next?" is the best opening line ever.  Try to use it at least once a day.

I'll have to watch it again but the "80's called" Radio Shack ad was cute.  I'll have to watch that again.  Was that really Hogan?  And Dee Snider?  The owl from "Clash of the Titans!"

Most of the ads I saw before the game so the surprise is ruined.  I liked the British Villians Jaguar one.

I also like the arty, imspriational ones:  Dylan/Chrysler, Jeep and what was that early one for?   Maserati?
I like how a Maserati commercial is about the underdog.  The 99%.  ::)

Also....Joe Namath's fur.

I would rather have watched Joe Namath's fur do color commentary than Troy Aikman and Joe Buck.
At the party I was at, 5 minutes after the coin toss I said "I bet Joe Namath's fur has his own Twitter account right now."  I bet he was drunk.  Is there anything more humiliating than mistakenly flipping the coin too early and having the Ref CATCH IT in mid-air??!?!  Phil Simms was like..."I don't want to be seen with this guy."

Obviously a Maserati commercial was the greatest civil rights moment in my lifetime. Finally my people have a commercial.

Half way through the third quarter wife convinced me to watch Mama Mia.  I don't know what was worse that Super Bowl or listening to Pierce Brosnan sing.
