I think this was one of those nights where I bounced between venues and saw a couple of shows. This is the only one in my recorded history, and probably the least interesting show of the night.

Let’s see . . .its a great memory but whole was probably less than the sum of its parts.  Still a show I’m glad I was at and still think about (like right now)

I’d seen Social Distortion at 9:30 and Sonic Youth at Ritchie Coliseum in the fall and both were perfect.  The vibe, the concentrated energy, the effect. The moment in time.  And here they were in the huge arena, very much opening acts playing to a completely indifferent mostly classic rock tie dye-type Neil Young  crowd. They just didn’t really connect and the energy got lost. But we were happy to be there. To witness it.

Neil Young and Crazy Horse were great.  Full on proto-grunge Crazy Horse.  I think Neil Young was in the classic rock / nostalgia category for most ‘kids’ and this triple bill really made you think differently about him . . .a new context.  Then a couple years later he’s playing with Pearl Jam and it’s a seamless blend and it makes sense. Of course it turned out Pearl Jam was ‘classic rock’ too.

Mighty Mighty Bosstones         2   18   1995          WUST Radio Music Hall

I was at this show. Face to Face was one of the opening bands. There was no barricade up. At any given point during any of the bands, there were 3 people diving off the stage. It was absolutely crazy. A great night.
