Musical Torture.
« on: February 27, 2008, 01:13:00 pm »
Music has been used in American military prisons and on bases to induce sleep deprivation, "prolong capture shock," disorient detainees during interrogationsâ??and also drown out screams. Based on a leaked interrogation log, news reports, and the accounts of soldiers and detainees, here are some of the songs that  guards and interrogators chose.

 Highlights include:
 The Barney Theme Song
 Bodies - Drowning Pool
 Enter Sandman - Metallica
 Meow Mix commerican
 Babylon - David Grey
 Stayin Alive - BeeGees
All Eyes on Me - Tupac
 Dirrty - Christina Aguilara
 Raspberry Beret - Prince
 American Pie - Don McLean

Which begs the question: What songs would you use to torture someone?
nothx

Anything by the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Bruce Springsteen or John Lennon.  Especially "Imagine."

 ...and Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend."

Best Week Ever's list and hey, guess what the first song listed is?

the military did this when noriega was hiding out in the vatican embassy. . .the military used such aural weapons as the howard stern show and "panama" by van halen.

as for what songs i'd use, "achy breaky heart" by hannah montana's dad, and "macarena" would be two i'd start off with.

Laurie Anderson emulated this just before the second act of her 1990 show at Lisner.

if you're going to go the "annoying club anthem" route, the vengaboys' "we're going to ibiza" trumps "9pm".  that barbie song isn't far behind.

EDIT: just realized that i'm not necessarily talking about the original, i was referring to those gawd-awful remixes that can still occasionally be heard in jersey clubs... any techno/electronica that features a synthesized trumpet as the lead line is 99.9% guaranteed to be an auditory crime against humanity.

You could add the complete setlist of American Idle last night.

Does anyone remember "shadupya face" or was it just the Brits who had to endure that?
