The Pokemon Go thread
« on: July 13, 2016, 03:29:41 pm »
apparently this damn game is taking over the world, and has even made a fan outta julian, so i assume it deserves its own thread.

and now the club is getting in on the action... apparently it's a "gym" (i'm vaguely aware of the concept, but not being a player i'm not completely clean on how this will improve my live music experiences...)

any PoGo'ers here?

sadly was reviewing it for my kids to install and now I'm a user
took me a while to figure out how to actually catch one of the suckers
but I got some peach colored dragon and haven't been to a gym yet
DFA and Kilsal are going hard core from what I can tell

it's crazy how fast this thing exploded

If this saves the Comic Books and Other Nerdy Topics thread, then this thread is a good move.

If it doesn't, you're the asshole, sweetcell.

Yes but I'm staying true to Ingress, where the "adults" play.  It is fun catching Pokemons from public transport...

Fan is a bit of an overstatement. I like that its getting fattyboombalatties moving, but I'm not about to play this crap.

While I don't play it, and likely never will as I'm 42, my wife is 36 (ie, we both missed the pokemon window growing up) and don't have children, I am fascinated by the user numbers and have been following them closely.

More daily users than twitter.
People spend more time playing pokemon then on Facebook (mobile) by a third
Higher Peak Daily Users than Candy Crush (which I also avoided)

And if you think the US is crazy about it, you should see the Australia and New Zealand numbers.

https://techcrunch.com/2016/07/13/pokemon-go-tops-twitters-daily-users-sees-more-engagement-than-facebook/

That's all crazy impressive stuff right there and like Kosmo I am super happy for the Niantic guys.

Not a chance.

But if (almost) any of you need a place to stay because you're coming out to interview, my door is open.

I hope they resolve the issue with the app freezing while capturing Pokemons, it locks up seemingly always when that rare one appears.
