April & May - months of show conflicts
« on: March 01, 2017, 01:52:16 pm »
At the moment, my most frustrating is April 28:

- New Pornos at 9:30 (I can't go to Saturday show)
- Mould solo electric at Black Cat (I've seen him 25 times, so can probably miss)
- Split Single (Jason Narducy) and R. Ring (Kelley Deal) at Comet Ping Pong (first, huh?)

Is Neko on the Pornos tour, do we know?

I think that one can attend both the NP and Mould shows, and maybe miss only a little Mould.
Split Single at Ottobar on Thursday the 27th.

Way back in the early 1990s I was tending bar in the hinterlands of Fairfax County.  One of the dudes from Cinderella was living in the area because the band was "on hiatus" and he had some family in the area.  He and his girlfriend would come in (with various hangers on) and cause all sorts of shit.  They truly appeared to hate each other.  He'd call her slut and whore and c**t.  She'd yell that he had a small one and couldn't get it up.  More than once they had to be physically separated and/or objects were thrown at one another.  But the thing was, you just knew they weren't going to break up anytime soon.  She wasn't going to leave him because he was a rock star.  And he wasn't going to leave her because she was incredibly (and I mean incredibly) hot.  Both knew that they probably couldn't do better (at least as measured by such shallow and vacuous metrics) so they stuck it out despite having no apparent like for one another.  It was a fascinating little sociological study.  Thankfully they stopped coming in after a couple of months.

Don't ask me which member of Cinderella it was.  I don't recall his name.  He was gaunt with stringy black hair, which describes most of the dozen or so members they have had through the years.

I have a major conflict on Saturday. The Courtneys and Jay Som are playing DC9 together and I don't have tickets, and that's a conflict for me because I now love both these bands and it's sold out and goddammit.

the usual advice: check CL to see if anyone has an extra.  if nothing shows up, go anyways.  someone will have something for you, doorman/woman might let you in, etc.  will = way.

I'm with you on that. It's just that I have a date that night, and it would've been real cool to go out for dinner and drinks and then take her to DC9, just waltzing in with my pre-bought tickets like a boss.

I did find somebody selling one ticket, but that won't work. Kinda pissed I even have this date because I'm dying to see this show.

Okay, as Narducy is sadly out, how do we navigate Grohl book signing/New Pornos/Mould?

Mould doors are at 8, and apparently the DJ set is BEFORE.  So Mould should be....11ish?

New Pornos are at 10:15.

Gotta miss part of one or the other.
