Anthem One Year Anniversary
« on: October 08, 2018, 12:10:44 pm »
I guess it’s here...seems like October 8 was the soft opening night one...that was a fun night....

Sure seems like a lot of shows for one year...the venue keeps making changes...such as one can run a tab at bars (has this been mentioned) now

Some of the bigger shows were probably Lorde and the Killers....myself I loved finally seeing Morrissey ....and New Order were amazing

A ton of shows, for sure. I think I've been to three? None were amazing but I do like the venue quite a bit.

The bartenders did a really good job with my mixed drinks. Happy hour is a nice perk. Good to know you can run a tab now!

Loved everything so far (except for that one time getting into the venue)...LCD Soundsystem, Morrissey, David Byrne, standing in line for NIN tickets, and NIN tomorrow!!!! Also looking forward to Nick Cave.

I guess I went a lot: 9 shows.

2 Soft Opens, Foos, Lorde & RTJ, Hansard, Beck, Echo/Femmes, David Byrne, Jack White.

Some very great nights. Best show was Byrne; craziest night was Echo. Worst line to get in was Foo.

Next looks like Death Cab, maybe Nick Cave (never seen)...

I find it cute that my first time to the Anthem was October 10, 2017 for the second soft opening and a year later on October 10th I’m seeing NIN and JAMC.

Aside from the second soft opening gig, I’ve only attended two other things at the Anthem - 1. The second night of LCD Soundsystem and 2. Standing in line for NIN tickets lol.

I was hoping to attend Lorde, but I got my first kidney stone ever around that same time. No way I could’ve pulled it off. I had to miss Moz last year due to my mom getting back surgery.

Needless to say, I’m very excited for Wednesday lol. And hopefully, I’ll also be at Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. I haven’t seen him since he played the club back in October 2008.

I've had some great experiences in the last year at the Anthem

1st soft open Bat Fangs/Mesthetics
2nd soft open Andrew WK
Foo Fanthem secret 101 show
Bob dylan
Jack White
Judas Priest
Bell and Sebastian
New Order
Brandi Carlise
Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile
Beck
Echo/Fems
Lorde w/RTJ
NIN/JAMC

wow 14 times!
(only upcoming is Nick Cave)

Biggest regrets of shows I missed (and if I had an unlimited show budget)
David Byrne
Willie and Sturgill
Phoenix
Haim
Lenny Kravitz

Sylvan Esso
Courtney Barnett /Julian Baker
MGMT
St. Vincent
Queens of the Stone Age

Shows I bought tickets to ...but had to sell for various reasons
Haim
Leon Bridges
LCD Soundsystem

I think all in all the sound and experience has been outstanding...with just a few meh times

Biggest letdown
Beer selection and price
The Wharfel
The gauntlet you need to go through to get in (most shows it's been quick, but some have been up to 30 mins to get in)

Best recovery
Hand soap dispensers

Best Value Add
Marquee Deck...probably go there every time

Bonus Points
Lobby Cymbal/glass pool-bottom art installation

Having my sisters boat at the CYC was pretty nice...would have thought I'd had more preshow parties...but people are lame and can't get their act together

Man you guys have thin skin...
So there were good pre-show yacht rocking fun for Beck and Lorde/RTJ (with a director appearance) and a small one for B&S
But with 14 shows....you would have thought that more people would have enjoyed drinking on the deck and watching the peons stand in line

with that said...Pre-Show yacht rocking scheduled for Nick Cave...PM for details

Thanks for the invite boathatch
it's a yacht...not a boat.  Can't get in invite if you don't use the correct nomenclature

Lorde/RTJ (with a director appearance)

Now I'm even more pissed that you shout out the Director, who lives in the area, but I flew 3,000 fucking miles for the yacht party, was the first to arrive and the last leave, even bought the pizza and nary a mention.
