Yeah, and the video is the same as Sabotage, which means not so great the second time around.

I loved "Hello Nasty," but it had been four years since the last album, and it was still working for me.  Though it's been four years since "Hello Nasty," I'm not so sure I'll need more Beasties....  Kinda makes me sad.

The Beastie Boys never really did it for me.  In fact, I really don't like them.  I thought some of Check Your Head was ok but other than that I dunno.  I never really heard anything after that.  Guess I'd had enough.  Paul's Boutique always drove me nuts.  My first year of college I lived in a dorm and that thing was in heavy rotation.

I'll still go see them if they tour here. They bring back fond memories....Brass Monkey and wine cooler era...And parents telling us to turn off that new found "crap" that we played over and over...

I used to love the Beasties.  I remember hearing "She's On It" and "Rock Hard" in clubs and thinking they were fantastic.  The first few albums are amazing.  However, it's starting to wear thin. Maybe it's because I'm older.  Maybe the novelty of white-boy rap-rock is gone.  I think I listened to "Hello Nasty" twice.  I'm already bored with the new single.  I just don't think their sound is aging well.

I'd see them again in a heartbeat though.  Their shows are always very entertaining.

well the Dust Brothers production alone on "Paul's Boutique" makes it's a milestone release... it helped create the entire genre of trip hop music.  what would be interesting is a instrumental version of PB.  "The In Sound From Way Out!" is an collection of instrumental only tracks shows the Beastie Boys at their best.  Take away the shouting and one gets some pretty groovy tracks.  There is a track on the Paul Boutique era "Shadrach" single which ranks among my fav Beastie Boy. If only because of The Jam sample at the end of the track...

By any chance, are the Dust Brothers related to the glimmer twins?

I downloaded that from Napster just to check it out and you're right - it's sick.

Paul's Boutique is an epic album.  Completely unsung as far as it's impact on music.  I love "The Sound of Science" off that album - me and a couple of buddies used to try to name each sample - at one point during the early free download days, we put together a disc of all of the sampled songs from the Beasties - it was over 150 songs.  My favorite was  Jeremy Steig's "Howling For Judy" from Sure Shot and Jimmy Smith's "Root Down (and Get It)" (which you can find  here but the 9:30 forum blocks me from linking because of parenthesis in the URL).

maybe the Beasties should do what Wire did a couple years back... take on tour another group to do the early stuff they don't want to do anymore...
