Should I See???
« on: February 21, 2020, 04:19:53 pm »
With all the thread of regretful misses I was wondering, should I see them?
Thoughts and opinions of seeing named artist live.
Some may not be on tour, but if they are or may be is it worth it?
Also, how much is too much to pay?

Presumptuous, but I'll start.

Should I see:
   Van Morrison?
   Stephen Malkmus?
   Wavves?
   Drive-by Truckers?
   Ariel Pink?
WHAT?

Van was pretty terrific in Vegas last year, so: yes - up to $150 or so.
DBT is a yes - up to $45 or so.
Malkmus, not so much, but maybe at $20 all in.
Have not seen Wavves or Ariel Pink, so $12.

Saw Wavves at sxsw 7 or 8 lyears ago and they were pretty good. Thought about seeing them again but I doubt it.

They’re kinda hit or miss but probably priced correctly.

Van - yes
Malkmus - yes (however, this tour could Maybe not be the first time to see him live)

The rest - no

DBT is the only one on that list I've seen.

I would see any of them it they were free on a weekend night.

I usually separate the person from the artist but Van’s behavior with respect to his last child was so bizarre it gives me pause

There are so many stories about Van really being a pretty nasty guy

In which cases do you find it impossible to separate the two?

So I guess the answer to steal his music but don't pay for his live show?

Well....in live music you are it stands to reason in the presence of the performer

I can see a movie by Woody Allen without having to be in the same room...

Van is just someone I wouldn’t want to be in the same room as...I still listen to Veedon Fleece but I don’t have to hang out with him...I just don’t want to
