looks like i'm going to cancel any concert plans i had, at least for the near term.  at first it was the indoor shows that i bailed on, but given the story below sounds like outdoor shows aren't safe either.  i wonder what the numbers from lolla are going to look like...

Milwaukee Bucks fans celebrated the NBA championship outside. 500 still got covid, officials say.

I am on my 3rd full day back from Lolla. No illness, yet ?, for me.

Meanwhile a co-worker went to the delaware shore over the weekend sharing a house with a bunch of folks (mostly in their 50s/60s) and 2 people (fully vaxxed), so far, are sick with the vid.

I am presently more concerned about sharing more intimate meals, etc. indoors than outdoor music shows. Indoor music shows are a concern. But, I think I am just gonna stay masked for awhile.

Next indoor show for me is DBT on 8/27.

Offspring drummer says band axed him from tour for not getting vaccinated

<insert predictable snark, "oooooh they did him a favor", etc etc etc>

interesting case study: a member of a band has a preexisting condition that makes vaccination a risk and his doctor tells him to not get vaxxed.  having band and crew 100% vaxxed is rapidly becoming the industry standard.  so essentially this guy lost his job due to his unavoidable medical status...

I challenge the premise vaccination is a risk.

I've a co-worker who can't get the vax due to a compromised immune system and her Dr's told advised her to not get it and mask/social distance as much as humanly possible...indefinitely :(

I have a  person I know that was pregnant, told not to get the vax while pregnant due to pregnancy and pre existing condition, went into labor >>> delivered baby >>> got sick while in hospital >>> died. 38 years old.

Definitely the worst covid story I know of.

Happy Monday!

I, too, have decided that I’m not doing any more shows for the short term. Not worth it for me.

Hoping for a quick turnaround but am not holding my breath.

And that is the worst COVID story I’ve heard so far. Good lord.
