yeah i see the combo deal there ... come october i'm going to go nuts with buidling/buying toys, but i need to hold off until then

For the same price you can build something that does twice as much (like make your music available to you over the internet), but built on the same concept....if I ever finish my write up of it.

while we're on the topic of 'puters and TVs... what's the latest & greatest on getting over-the-air HD on to my computer?  i want to watch OTA HD on my computer monitor only, no need to relay to a tv screen.  
 
 i was researching this a year and a half ago, and at the time it looked like the MyHD MDP-130 was the best, but also a resource hog.  have things changed much?  any card recommendation?  forums i should check out?

Oh noooooooo!  Help!  They're trying to turn me into a techie.  That ain't happenin.'  That site is so far over my head...we're talking in the ionosphere.  
 
 My reading that site would be like, to use a much loved biblical reference, casting pearls before swine (also a very cool 60s psych/folk band).
 
 Looked into that Very Sonick link, that D-Link thing (that's a lot of alliteration).  It's getting very poor reviews.  Apparently it doesn't work.
 
 Maybe I'll just move my laptop closer to the TV and do it the Hoya way.

I know i could build and possibly get something better and more flexible, but then I have to build it.  Not that i'm opposed to that...but still...
 
 BTW, using a program called SoftSqueeze I can already access my whole library over the interweb
 
 One of the things that I really like about the ReadyNas products is native support of slimserver, as well as a built in bittorrent client, among other things....

Yep - all good.  I was this close to going the slimserver/squeezebox route until I wanted to get rid of all my DVDs too and not get into the Blue-Ray/HD-DVD fight.  That's when I looked under the hood of the 360.

Distributed video is the next logical step for me...
