gonna hafta side with hutch on this one... i mean - what about physical graffiti?  houses of the holy?  the first album was a kick-ass debut.  i think presence is a criminally underrated album, page's guitar playing on that album is among his best and it's their most progressive/experimental album.  of their entire discography, i can take two albums out of the running for top 3 (in through the out door, and coda if you decide to consider it) but as for the rest, it's a toss-up.  i could argue that any three of those are their best.

I nearly gave Houses of the Holy the bronze but D’yer Maker is on it so it drops.

i hear ya, but on the other hand it has The Rain Song, No Quarter and The Ocean which more than make up for DM (which i personally don't find to be that offensive - hello, Livin' Lovin' Maid?  yet you still chose II...).

like i said, it's a toss-up.  any 3 albums would do.  i can't argue with you IV / II / III choice either.

I can’t stand most of the first three albums. Plant ruins them. Presence is so underrated too.
