Connect the Jones
« on: June 16, 2020, 08:45:49 pm »
Saw this one on the Facebook...

Connect Mick Jones of Foreigner to Mick Jones of the Clash, Kevin bacon style six connections or less. I did it in five connections.  So curious as to what anyone else can come up with. Will post mine later...

That’s a tough one...I should know it...my guess is it involves Guy Stevens who produced some early Spooky  Tooth  and the Clash way later...Mick Jones of foreigner was in spooky tooth late on but some spooky tooth member must have been in the early incarnation produced by Guy

So Guy Stevens would be a link

So initially I was working from the idea that Thomas Dolby is well known for playing keyboards on Foreigners "Urgent" so surely there is a connection there. My path from there was

Mick Jones
Thomas Dolby
George Clinton
Don Letts who directed a Clinton documentary
Mick Jones.

But, looking at Mick Jones specifically I saw that Ian Hunter played on his solo album.  And the other better Mick Jones produced Ian's album Short Back and Sides.

Don's musical snob hat... But did Nesmith work directly with Iggy? But kudos on eye opening gambit..

Mine was a bit classier

Davy Jones
Hal Blaine
Frank Sintara
Bing Crosby
David Bowie

and I'm sure there is a better Hal Blaine to Bowie connection given he played on 15K tracks and Bowie had so may collaborators

Ok now do

Howard Jones and Quincy Jones

Here is a cool bit about the recording of Iggy's Repo man (so can't find any evidence that MN worked with iggy directly...yet)
http://www.repomanfilm.com/iggypoprecording.htm

This made me crack up
While we broke down the instruments and repositioned the vocal mic, Iggy's coke dealer arrived. When the man left, Iggy was in possession of 2 grams of coke. He laid it out on the producer's Table. Everyone waited in anticipation of Iggy giving each of us a line. Instead, and to the utter shock of everyone in the room, Iggy quickly scratched the coke into 2 giant lines the size of Cuban cigars and snorted all of it in two huge sniggs.

Phil Collins might be the Kevin Bacon of Music!

At least in the 1975-1985 period nobody played with more people

The guy has like a 4 cd box set taken just from collaborations

If I could only find that family tree of BJM that connected Anton to a massive amount of bands...

I'd nominate Kenny Aronoff.

I'm sure Hal Blaine and others of the Wrecking Crew\The Funk Brothers will top either of those..

And i'm finding Jesus Jones to BJM tough... as Jesus Jones kept to themselves with not many side projects.  Possibly something through the Waco Brothers as their bass player is a member of that group.
