[Lindsey Graham] also made a $1 million donation to get the R's re-elected in GA (that was expected...although his funders gave him 1mil I'm sure)
Remember four short weeks ago when he was literally sobbing on television about how broke he and his campaign were and moaning "Give me money. Money me. Money now. Me a money needing a lot now" like a fake cancer patient at a Beef and Beer?

so you're saying you expect consistency from the GOP?
No, I just like to reminisce.

If Biden nominates any GOP senator to his Cabinet who currently holds office in KY, LA, ME, MT, NC, PA, or WI( and Kansas)  it would be a Democrat governor who picks the replacement.

would be the end of their GOP tenure, but in this climate, is that a bad thing

They wouldn’t take job without agreement from governor to replace with a Republican

The lack of realism in liberal circles is astounding

zero chance in hell that mitch would let that happen.

this is an unlikely scenario...but how would Mitch stop a Senator from taking a cabinet pick...I guess the senate has to approve...what if it was acting?

withholding confirmation is one way he could make this a no-go.  acting = time-limited.  yes, there are games the WH can play to extend an acting, but mitch can make a faustian bargain: "you can go be acting for 270 days, or however long they extend it for, but eventually you'll be forced out - and i'll make sure you're never elected again, to the senate or anywhere else, as a republican."

there are a lot of other backroom deals he can make and arm-twists he can apply.  mitch is a master strategist.  he has dirt and he has power.  hell, he's willing to suck up to trump's looney election conspiracy theories if it means retaining control of the senate.  you think one senator with cabinet aspirations is going to stop him?

Merrick Garland would be real cool but Doug Jones (who won a fucking Senate seat in AL, for Christ's sake) feels like his career is done unless he gets AG.

And what’s wrong with his political career being done?

Politicians need to sometimes accept reality and get private sector jobs... government shouldn’t be a tit these guys can suck on forever

I like Doug Jones but not sure Biden owes him anything but he owes the American people something

I think there's also a solid case to make that Doug Jones is legitimately one of the very best people for the job too. His career is wildly impressive, especially around civil rights prosecutions.
