Pulling for Ecuador, personally. The bars on Conn Ave south of Dupont Circle are where all the Latin American fans hang out and they are a blast. I'm sure World Cup 2022 will be no exception.

Lucky Bar is where I saw Argentina defeat England in pks in 1998. A great memory. Also where I saw Messi for the first time!

ENG vs POR in 2006 at the Lucky Bar is one of, if not the, best soccer memory I have... Epic vibe.

Benzema- reigning Balón d’or- out of WC

Huge loss for France and those that like to watch the sport.

Thank you UEFA and FIFA: let’s run the players into the ground and then a few days later ask them to play WC

Why does soccer have to be so complicated?

Qatar played pretty dirty today, lots of elbows to the head on jump balls. I hope they get rolled in all their matches.

The guy who stepped on Valencia should have gotten red.

for anyone not aware of the horror that was required to make the Qatar WC happen, some required watching: John Oliver absolutely ripped into the tournament organizers - FIFA and Qatar - last night.

Qatar World Cup: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO)

i mean, i was aware that the stadiums were built with slave labor, but holy hell... just fucking inhuman.  definitely changed how i'm viewing this WC.

African teams success in the WC so often comes down to their goalkeepers.

Nice to see Edgar Davids on Netherlands bench as Assistant Coach. What a tremendous player he was…

They need to keep up the pressure this 2nd half.  Seems like they let the control of the game go to Wales.
