GOP "logic":

1. adopt an extreme position on abortion
2. hold that position for years despite it representing fewer and fewer voters. do not care that only a minority still want it, because gawdammit they're not flip-floppers
3. pack the SCOTUS through any means necessary, damn the ethics
4. get SCOTUS to overturn Roe, despite point #2
5. be amazed when the 2022 "red wave" election fails to materialize, and watch the opposition prez do better in the midterms than any other in 60 years?  more?
5. the kicker: with their new razor-thin majority, ensure that one of the first bills past is a ‘born alive’ abortion bill (that is unnecessary since it's already illegal to not save a baby born alive following an abortion)

RECAP: GOP was punished for a thing, so at the first opportunity they loudly signal their support for that thing.  got it.

6. It dies in the senate, and we forget they even put it to a vote

will it just be more of this
The House has voted 54 times in four years on Obamacare.

but 2 years and it's mostly hunter

note from that link
Rep. Nancy Mace, a South Carolina Republican who has been a vocal critic of her party’s abortion messaging,

not sure what it is about Ms Mace, but she keeps getting my attention for her policy (and not her good looks)

jesus, she loves animals too!
not only puppies, but horses and sharks!

right, which in my mind confirms my point: they knew it would go nowhere, so the only point of that bill was messaging... and that message was: they haven't learned a thing. strategery!

you'd think they'd want to move on from abortion, instead of beating a long-dead horse.

will it just be more of this

i'd have to go back and check the polling, but i seem to remember a majority of right-leaning voters being opposed to obamacare, at least initially - so politically it made sense to bang that drum.  eventually the GOP had to admit that obamacare was in fact popular, so they dropped it and moved on to the next thing, AKA the thing they really should do with abortion.

Melanie D'Arrigo @DarrigoMelanie

The evolution of the Republican Party:

Ronald Reagan: I’ll only help the super-rich.

George W. Bush: I'll start wars to help them more.

Donald Trump: Thanks! Hold my beer!

Brett Kavanaugh: *sobs loudly* I love beer!

George Santos: I invented beer.

agreed.  in fact, the evolution of the Republican Party is downright moronic.

I read she may run for Senate to replace Feinstein.

I would prefer Schiff.

you've got your wish
