Your top albums of 2022
« on: December 15, 2022, 07:43:14 pm »
Somebody has to start the thread.

Here are my top albums of 2022. Too lazy to type out the album title. If teh artist released more than one album, I'll indicate the album.

The first four stood out for me. The next 12 were my 12 next favorites, but the order could change depending on mood.

1. Spoon
2. Ezra Collective
3. Wilco
4. Big Thief

5. Father John Misty (Chloe)
6. Angel Olsen
7. Lady Wray
8. Billy Strings
9. Sault (11)
10. Toro Y Moi
11. Danger Mouse and Black Thought
12.Theo Croker (Love Quantum and Sketches of Spain)
13. Ashley McBryde
14. Alvvays
15. Micheal Rault
16. Yeah Yeah Yeahs

What are yours?

Here are the albums I listened to the most from last year... Please note my entirely pedestrian tastes as very few of these land on any best of 2022 lists..  and in no way for example is Sloan's latest not vastly better than Wet Leg, I suspect ageism

The Feeling  - Loss. Hope. Love.
The Suffers - It Starts with Love
Gwenno - Tresor
Bayou City Comeback Chorus - Bayou City Comeback Chorus
Sloan - Steady
Lizzo - Special
Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard - Backhand Deals
Connie Constance - Miss Power
Gabriels - Angels & Queens Part I
The Rusty Nutz - We Tried to Make It Big but Something Somewhere Went Wrong and We Can't Work out What That Something Is
2nd Grade - Easy Listening
Confidence Man - TILT/RE-TILT
Adrian Quesada - Boleros Psicodélicos
The Handcuffs = Burn The Rails
Dancing Dimensions - Ural Thomas & The Pain
Paradise - Healing Potpourri
Dubstar - Two
Leah Weller - Freedom
Boo Radleys - Keep On With Falling
Belle & Sebastian - A Bit Of Previous
Nova Twins - Supernova
Harlem Gospel Travelers - Look Up!

I'd like to see the albums that didn't make list

Well since you asked while looking at what I listened to but didn't make the list, I've promoted a couple to my top list...

Bartees Strange - Farm To Table - initially wasn't making the cut as it sort of peters out towards the end but it does have a really strong beginning with "Heavy Heart" so it's a keeper

The Linda Lindas - Growing Up - Too fun not to include.

Pixy Jones (ex-El Goodo) - Bits and Bobs -

Stuff that didn't make the cut which got a couple listens but didn't really stick with me

The Beths, Soccer Mommy, Suede, Tanika Charles, Horsegirl, Pixies, Suede, Working Men's Club, Beyonce.

Brendan Benson's album is good just not one of his best, will likely revisit in a couple years.

Would say that was intrigued by  Ibibio Sound Machine working with Hot Chip but this one fell flat with me.
