Purely an honorific and about the least upsetting thing about the Trump admin so far

Looks like NATO may be another Trump admin2 casualty. Talking to Putin about Ukraine without involving NATO seems like a flex.

Weird approach to alienate all our friends obtained with blood and treasure  and cemented with 80 years of working together.

The post WW2 international order may be over. It served the US well 1945-2025. RIP

making a deal with putin behind ukraine's back.  gutting the cia and other foreign intelligence orgs.  nominating incompetent stooges like tulsi, kash, hogwash, etc.  starting trade wars with canada, mexico, and every metal producer.  repeatedly saying that he wants to invade/go to war for greenland, panama, gaza - more to be announced soon.  giving elmo free reign to turn the federal government into a giant proof-of-concept project.

it's been a good run, but all things must end.  still scratching my head as to why american voters chose to give up dominance, but here we are.

That’s fine but the rest of the world gave us a pass on Trump one time.

They ain’t doing it again.

We are no longer a reliable ally.

I think that the long and short comes down to, "What has this so-called dominance done for me?".
It's hard not to feel some sympathy, until you use any critical thinking. I work with a guy at my job who is undocumented, been working in the US for 20 years, doing construction work and keeping his head down. He was pulled over in PA (as a passenger in a vehicle) 4 years ago and now has a case pending. He figured Trump would be better "because of business"... All of this while the company that we both work for has had its best 3-year run under the previous administration.
Just because it's stupid, doesn't mean there isn't truth, when you're broke AF, or living paycheck to paycheck, or just can't see upward momentum, it's easy to not care about "the world", or "the future", or "other people".

I see the smart people are floating the idea that the dems should establish a sort of shadow government/cabinet i.e. get qualified people acting as a HHS secretary providing accurate health information

100% - it's hard to care about wars overseas or the state of the environment when you don't know how you're going to feed your kids tomorrow.  you need things to change.  however, you don't want just any change, you need things to change for the better.  other than words and provable lies, trump offered nothing.  he had neither the plans nor the track record to inspire confidence.  much of what he did promise - isolationism, tariffs, deportations, repeal ACA, etc - are predictable drivers of inflation.  but enough people decided to roll the dice with "any change".

some trump voters went to the polls believing that things can't get any worse.  i'm very scared we're about to prove them wrong.

there must be a good German or Japanese word for this

Edit...German word
Zukunftsangst, which translates to "fear of the future," combines anxiety about what's to come with a sense of pessimism.

as if we didn't know this would happen
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is confirmed as the nation's health secretary
the only GOP no was Mitch!

So while I think he is a little bat shit crazy, I do hope the make America healthy again...actually does

it's so funny as it's the opposite of what MAGA says they want...but they definitely need

I do think fast food/factory farms/big ag/overprocessed crap/Pharma advertising directly to consumers -- are all really bad things and honestly the Dems have done zero to really help on these fronts
