Oopsie

Lutheran Social Services is one of the largest employers in South Dakota, operating senior living facilities across the state. Republicans are shutting it down

Perhaps more concerning is Mike Flynn, known foreign asset, having access to this data?

Tim Kaine swings and misses

Tim Kaine, went on CNN today, got an easy question "do you have a problem with Musk's access to govt systems?" and whiffed by saying basically "I don't know anything, the administration isn't giving us info"

Do you have a link for that? Following this story, and want more proof than because Kosmo said so

Trump has a World Cup trophy behind him in press conferences for the Oval Office

I think he got it from Putin, but does that really matter

Yikes he just said the VAT is the same as a tariff
Then… “we are $36tril in debt… because we make bad deals “
That’s not why we are in debt… but we are in a post-fact era

Oh and Canada… just one state… so only 2 senators for all of it
“There will be a lot of pain, for them” yikes

Really we need to give them about 10 senate seats so they become five states and expand house to 635 (long overdue and Canada would get about 65 seats.:.house districts are too populous…this expansion of house would equate to roughly one member per 600k instead of 1 per 800k….its the right thing to do)

I mean Canada’s population is about 10% of ours….

The wrinkle are Canadian rights…you can’t just take things like guaranteed healthcare away… the idea should be to bring up American rights on certain areas to canadas level…

It’s complicated though…but the idea is a negotiated merge….not violent conquest

not enough has been said about china and their 'silk road' initiative
They have been doing infrastructure upgrades all over the 3rd world (also bankrupting the locals to pay for ports/dams they didn't ask for)

but it is economic imperialism that flew under the radar of the Monroe doctrine

So if Trump puts up real roadblocks to this ...I think that's a good idea

You sure?

Would be a pretty big win for Trump if the US annexed Canada. Not to mention are you saying continued democracy is guaranteed under Trump?

The fact is Denmark, Panama, Mexico and Canada all backed down today.

And Canada caves…..

sure aboot that?

what exactly did canada have to give up?  "increased border security" via a $1.3B investment.  in late 2024, canada announced an border and immigration investment of... $1.3B.  canada got trump to back down by waiving in front of his face something that they were already doing. oh, and trudeau will name a "fentanyl czar"  ::)

trump is the one who caved: after he saw the uproar & someone finally explained to him the consequences of his actions, he needed an out. he'll claim that promises of canada doing what is was always going to do is somehow a win.  his followers will swallow it without question, bask in his glow, then move on to the next manufactured crisis.

also, fentanyl doesn't enter the US through canada so 100% interdiction will have zero effect:

The vast majority of fentanyl seized at U.S. borders comes from Mexico.

In 2024, more than 21,100 pounds of fentanyl was seized by U.S. authorities on the border with Mexico, compared to only about 43 pounds seized at the Canadian border.
(source)

also, WAY more fentanyl enters canada from the US, then enters the US through canada. gee, who's the real problem here?

so, to recap:
- trump got nothing new
- trump went on the anti-fentanyl warpath against a country that doesn't contribute to the problem
- trump "solved" a crisis he created - brilliant!

finally, last week trump claimed the tariffs were about the "unfair trade deficit", but is now claiming a victory on fentanyl... where did those goalposts go?!?
