Reel to Reel isn't dead yet...

just way way over priced...

i wonder if this will last as long as those Dual Disc CD/DVDs or NFTs which is two years, likely longer for a scaramucci

https://store.rhino.com/en/rhino-store/special-edition-shops/reel-to-reel/

The current titles from Rhino are

Electric Warrior (Rhino High Fidelity R2R)
$299.98

The Yes Album (Rhino High Fidelity R2R)
$299.98

or both for the bargain of $569.99

as someone pointed out

If you think the people who buy LPs but never listen to them are annoying, wait until you meet the people who spend $300 on a reel to reel tape that will sit on their shelves indefinitely.

I actually thought the life span was shorter

Reel-to-reel magnetic tapes used for music typically have a natural lifespan of 20 to 50 years, though in ideal storage conditions and with minimal playback, some tapes can remain playable for much longer—potentially up to 100 years

Playback Frequency: Noticeable sound degradation often begins after about 50 playbacks, with significant deterioration likely after 200–500 plays; 1,000 plays is often considered the maximum usable life for a tape.

not the life span of the tapes, but rather the selling of new ones...
