Clavius Productions presents a very special evening with Peter Walker and Max Ochs -- two legendary (and underrecorded) progressive fingerpickers -- and Jack Rose, who may just be the most astounding acoustic guitarist of his generation:

 Tuesday, November 28
 Velvet Lounge
 915 U St NW WDC
 http://www.velvetloungedc.com
 $10, 21+, doors at 9

Peter Walker (made two albums for Vanguard Records in the late '60s)
 Jack Rose (VHF/Eclipse)
Max Ochs (Tompkins Square, was on first Takoma Records compilation in 1967)

 from the Washington City Paper:

When it comes to the possibilities of the psychedelic experience, stoners have lost a lot of ambition in the last 30 years. Back in ??69, hopeful flower children might have waxed philosophical about bewilderment and illumination; these days, most people are ingesting THC in an effort to unlock the limitless scope and content of Old School. But Peter Walker still remembers a time when a trip would take you further than the comedy section at Blockbuster. As the musical director for Timothy Leary??s late-??60s ??Celebrations,? the guitarist used his skill with raga- and flamenco-style playing to guide participants through the unexplored realms of their own consciousness. Unlike Leary however, Walker still resides on our plane, and his latest record, A Raga for Peter Walker, proves that he can still turn on, tune in, and drop out with the best of them. Hear the chords of eternity when Walker performs with Jack Rose and Max Ochs at 9 p.m. at the Velvet Lounge, 915 U St. NW. $10. (202) 462-3213. (Aaron Leitko)
