Forgotten Shows

I am having the hardest time remembering who I saw where, who opened for them or who they opened for, etc.  Damn, I really wish 930 and Black Cat and everyone else would archive past show dates rather than just dropping them off their websites.
 
 How do y'all remember these shows?  They all just run together in my alcohol soaked mind.
 
 Anyway, I'm wondering... I saw John Vanderslice last year, opening for someone or other.  Does anyone recall???  I can't believe I forgot.

I agree, but with the caveat, I had all Beulahs albums and had llistened to them a lot. I didnt know a single JV song. That can make a huge difference for me.
 
 I find if I go to a lot of shows all together they are forgotten more quickly, of course if I only went to one show a year it would be much easier to remember.

I don't remember, and I don't know how people do it.  
 
 I have friends who remember shows from 10 years ago -- who opened, what month it was, etc.  I can't remember what I saw last fall (especially since they often seem to come in bunches -- those weeks with 2, 3 or 4 shows).  
 
 But, I've been keeping a list of upcoming shows in my Palm Pilot, and now I just copy and paste the shows I did attend in a new memo on the "Shows Attended 2004."  If feels anal and a bit wierd, but that's how I know I saw 52 shows last year, a statistic I found really interesting...

I keep all my ticket stubs and write down the openers that i actually SAW on it, if i didnt see the openers, which i usually dont, then i dont put it on the ticket.

 Beulah was excellent; VS was forgettable.

VS was charming and a pleasant opener...I wouldn't pay full price for his CD, or probably want to listen at home, but I didn't hate his set that night.

We probably see 15-20 shows a year. More than that seems like overkill and the excitement that leads up to going to a show would be diminished.

See, this is where Weird War is a good opener-- I'll never forget who they are and who they've opened for both times I saw them.

Think of the anticipatory high you could get if you only went to one show a year.

We saw three shows at CMJ over a two day period. Multiple bands, but if they are all on the same bill, then that is one show.

That's a technicality!    
 So if you go to Coachella...you only see 2 shows?
 
 Seems to be a subject better expressed as the number of bands you see a year. I'll probably see 5-7 shows in Austin this week, but will catch nearly 50 bands.

We actually only stayed for maybe three bands of the Bllodshot showcase.
 
 Next day, we went to the Bloodshot picnic, but came and went and only watched the bands we wanted to see...I think maybe three.
 
 We went to the Subpop showcase, but only watched two of the bands. (though i think we watched a couple of the other bands for a few songs and quickly rettreated to the basemnet bar)
 
 so three shows, eight bands. Not reqally all that different than seeing three regular shows.
