downtown lunch eats
« on: August 11, 2006, 03:45:00 pm »
I just started working around the Faragut West/Golden Triangle area two weeks ago.  Give me your favorite places to eat lunch around this area with a location and a breif description.  So far I've been eating alot of Cosi's and Goldies Italian and today I discovered The Brown Bag on 18th Street.

Uh, oh. While there are excepctions, I've found that more often than not, that means up go the prices and down goes the quality when it comes to the restaurant business.

If you are where I think you are then you are kind of near High Noon where you should go because it's awesome and my friend's dad owns it

I can't remember the exact name, it may be something like Sunshine Cafe, but it's on I Street between 16th & 17th. It's one of those food by the pound places, but it's big, clean and they have a good selection of sandwiches, too. It's run by a Latino family.

Also, there's a Teaism near there at 800 Connecticut Ave.

Nirvana on 18th and K.  Moby Dick, a little closer to Dupont.  Baja Fresh on 20th and I (?).

I had lunch with a buddy today at the Black Rooster at 1919 L Street. Good times, great reubens, and the waitress gave us each a free pint, which was our fourth. We were buzzy. The lunch was good too.

2nd the Greek Deli on 19th.  Great food and huge portions (enough for 2 lunches).
